Astronomical mobile bills
-
I wonder if anyone has had the same problem, but we're at the end of our tether. My husband and I are living in Germany and are not due to leave until the end of next year so a couple of months ago decided to take out mobile phone contracts with Debitel Vodafone through Saturn.
We took them home after shopping (this was about 9pm on a saturday) and I started charging mine up and having a look at the functions, bluetoothing people to my contacts etc. I decided to look at the internet functions and spent about ten minutes looking through and checking facebook. Then I got bored switched closed all apps down and left my phone to charge.
Next morning I went to send a text to all to let them know my number and to my surprise my phone was blocked. I called and called Debitel to be told that there was high usage on my phone and that I had incurred 100 euros charges. I had only had my phone 12 hours at this point.
anyway I was told to pay or keep my phone unblocked. I asked for an itemised bill but was told that one could not be produced for two weeks.
my husband carried on using his phone, but not the internet for another two weeks. Then one night he tried to download a 5 euro poker game onto his phone and lo and behold the next day he was also cut off.
Our bills have come in and mine is approx 350 euros (from 100 that they told me) and my husbands is 659.84 euros.
Surely it's ridiculous to expect us to pay these outlandish and extortionate charges. We are not even allowed to cancel the contracts. This is over 1000 that we cannot afford.
We got the phones so that we would stop spending stupid amounts on pay as you go.
Please please can someone advise me on what I can do next?
