Cost of Living
-
I have an opportunity with my job (US Government) to take a position at the US Naval Base in Souda Bay, Crete. I'm trying to compare living costs the best I can so I can figure out if I can afford to make this move. Is there any advice anyone can give me in regards to what they might spend typically on groceries weekly in that area? What about the cost of internet, cell phones, cable and gasoline?

re cost of living
Hi Stacey. I live near Souda. Groceries are about 100 euros a week for the 3 of us, we pay 25 euros a month for an unlimited adsl package and a further 20 a month for the telephone line rental. although you can get cheaper, 30 a month for my mobile phone contract , 59 a month for a satellite tv package and about 15 a week for petrol. electricity is about 50 a month in the winter but nearer to 100 in the summer because of the air con, car insurance is expensive...850 euros a year. oil for central heating was 300 last winter. prices have gone up a lot over the last few years. let me know if theres anything else you need to know.
