If you still want to rent a car, you’ll need a valid driver’s license and a major credit card. Most rental companies want you to be at least 25 years old.
Renting a car at Managua International Airport costs about 15% above normal prices, so it might be a good idea to take a taxi to an offsite office. Most major rental car agencies have offices in all the major cities.
Smaller Nicaraguan-based car rental companies may offer better deals but they do not have the same level of customer support available as international companies such as Alamo, Avis and Hertz.
Insurance
When renting you need to buy insurance providing at least 80% coverage. This cost is often not included in the first price you see, and can end up doubling the daily rate.
