Why is it soo difficult to obtain an Iqamah in Saudi Arabia?
Been trying for 1 year..married to a Iqamah holder (Thailand passport although he was born there, job: driver)
Driving me nuts, in other countries, the process would definitely be simple!27 Apr 2008, 12:08 FRUSTRATED

WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT IN OBTAINING IQAMA @ SAUDI ARABIA
Dear Fatimah & Shimanna
This is really weired ...could you advice me how the process is done?the contact person that you have liase with in obtaining a visa at a very short time?...by the way Im a Malaysian...does that makes any difference?
p/s: Ive heard that only doctors, engineers basically professionals could invite & obtain visa for their spouse..is it true..?
Thanks & Appreciate itFRUSTRATED 27 Apr 2008, 08:23 - Report -
mmmmm
As for being Malaysian that makes not difference, so i would say that, that is not a issue at all.
Spoken to my husband, all he had to do in reqards for my Iqama, is take all the paper work along with Iqama, my passport, ID photo, into the government here in Riyadh, where there they process it, and issue you with your own Personal ID card... So you will also be using your husbands Iqama number.... and once he has lodged it here it takes only a very very short time.
I hope this helps....shimanna 28 Apr 2008, 06:28 - Report -
IQAMA & ME
Dear Shimanna,
Thanks for the info.Need to clarify a few things,
....you've mentioned that you had to take all the paper work along with your "Iqama", passport etc..
So, how did you obtain your iqama..?did you apply for a Family Visa and then convert it to a Iqama?
Or you just need to fill up Iqama application form and other paper work?
Thanks for the help

Hello again,
i have my husband next to me explainning what he did,,,, but first question, what is your husband job on his visa!becas this also can stop you from getting your Iqama... it is true it goes on your husband profession......
my husband filled out the application form for Iqama, which then he took my passport, his passport, his Iqama and all his detail with mine and then he went to the offices for the workers here and got all the details stamped he needed proof of his employment and also proof of living etc and it cost him in total 2000SR...and now i have my own Iqama....

How Convert to Visit Visa into Iqama?
Replyneucji 29 May 2008, 05:02 - Report -
iqama
its not easy to convert a visit visa into a iqama, but as we mentioned aboved it depends on what profession the husband is in to weather he can even get the iqama for this wife. Many professions here do not allow for anything more than a visit visa of the 3 month period. If he is in such a profession where he can then its just a simple process of filling in the application forms, paying a set ammount of money,( and having the company he works for also supporting his application) then its just a matter of a few weeks before she will have her own iqama card. if you like you can contact me and then talk the process over with my husband he will be more than happy to help u understand it more.
