Student jobs in Munich

  • I'm a Polish national but I've lived in UK for the past 4 years. I'm currently studying at the University of Warwick. My course offers me the chance to go to Gemany for a whole year next year. I have chosen Ludwig-Maximilians university in Munchen and would also like to get work experience during my stay there. Will I need any documents that would allow me to work in Germany or do full EU laws apply in my case?

  • Transitional period

There is a transitional period for the new EU-members like Poland during which the freedom of work doesn not yet fully apply for citizens from these countries. However, as a student, you are allowed to work up to a certain amount of hours per month in any case in Germany.

  • hiwi

you will probably be only allowed to work 90 days a year (or 180 half days). however, ALL students can work as much as they want as a HIWI, which is a research assistant. these jobs do not pay too greatly, but they are good for work experience and connections, as they are uni-based.
