Getting a driving license in Dubai
In Dubai you must be at least 18 years of age in order to obtain a driving licence, although if you are under 18 you can learn to drive but will not receive your licence until you turn 18. Before 2006 the police were in charge of driving tests, however, since the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have taken charge they have made the driving test more difficult to pass.

Due to the fact that public transport does not reach everywhere in the city and that the cost of taxis, although comparatively cheaper than other places in the world, does accumulate - the best thing to do is drive. Having a temporary or permanent license is necessary to drive a private car in Dubai, as visitors to the UAE are not allowed to drive private cars.
