Hi, we did a simalar thing. to be honest we found the banks very eficent and friendly here. You will need a fiscal number, easy to obtain from the local tax office. We had are statements sent to the uk then changed to our portuguese address when we moved here. Milinium BCP have in our experiance been very good. Transfer your money in sterling to your portuguese bank account, far better exchange rate then offered by our uk bank/
